The Township of Verona conducted a comprehensive, Township-wide Facilities Audit to evaluate the condition of its municipal facilities and help guide long-term maintenance, improvements and capital investment.
Presented to the Verona Township Council on July 20, 2026, the audit provides a snapshot of the condition of Township facilities, identifying current needs, potential concerns and recommended improvements. It is intended to serve as an ongoing planning tool that helps the Township make informed decisions about maintaining its buildings, prioritizing projects and allocating capital funds responsibly.
Individual facility evaluations were prepared following site visits conducted during 2025 and 2026. Each evaluation examined the facility’s condition and performance in several key areas, including health and safety, long-term maintenance, operational adequacy and energy efficiency.
The audit references current design and construction standards to identify areas where existing conditions may differ from modern requirements. However, the findings do not mean that every existing facility must immediately meet every standard applicable to new construction. Instead, the evaluations help identify conditions that may affect accessibility, safety, system reliability or continued building operations, allowing the Township to make informed decisions about facility use, maintenance and future investments.
Each facility report organizes its findings into the following categories:
Site Improvements: Exterior grounds and related site features.
Building Envelope: Roofs, exterior walls, windows and other components that protect the building from the elements.
Building Interiors: Interior spaces, finishes and related building conditions.
Mechanical Systems: Heating, ventilation, air conditioning and related equipment.
Electrical Systems: Electrical infrastructure and associated equipment.
Plumbing Systems: Plumbing infrastructure and related components.
Fire-Safety Systems: Systems and features related to fire protection and life safety.
Recommendations are assigned one of four priority levels, ranging from items requiring immediate attention to longer-term improvements that may be completed as funding permits. These classifications help the Township evaluate the urgency of identified needs and plan accordingly.
The Facilities Audit is more than a list of repairs or deficiencies. It is intended to establish a proactive, continuously updated plan that helps the Township anticipate needs, coordinate improvements and make strategic use of available resources.
