Natural Grass vs Synthetic Turf

Sustainable Verona's Kerry Bass presented a program on Natural Grass vs Synthetic Turf at the Verona Parks and Recreation Committee meeting on June 16, 2026. Watch the presentation below. Download a copy of the presentation slides here.

Verona's green team, along with Montclair University and PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies, conducted a thorough study to determine the best option for our beloved field. From cost analysis to environmental impact, their study covered it all. Findings were presented at the 8.5.24 Township Council Meeting and is available to be watched on Verona's YouTube channel.

Recycling Resources

Visit VeronaNJ.org/GarbageCollection for details on recycling, what is accepted and when.

Don't miss a Garbage or Recycling Pick-up Join Remyndr!

  • Remyndr is the most convenient way to communicate curbside collection schedules to Verona residents. Notifications tell you the pickup type, what to include and what to avoid. If things change (like a snow storm), everyone will be alerted, or just those on the affected route.
  • This results in a cleaner recycling stream, reduced waste stream and fewer items sitting on streets or blowing around our neighborhoods.
  • For residents, it is free, takes seconds to sign up and means no missed pickups.

How it works:

Simply download the free app, enter your address and you will instantly see the calendar of pickups at your home. Nothing more you need to do except sit back, relax and wait for your notifications.

Medicine Drop Box

Verona is now one of the many communities in Essex County to provide citizens with a safe and easy way to dispose of expired or unused medicines. Drop box is located in Town Hall lobby (600 Bloomfield Ave) and is accessible during normal business hours. The box was provided to the Township by ADAPT (Alcohol & Drug Abuse Prevention Team) of Essex County through a grant from the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
