Age-Friendly 55 & Older Community Survey

Save the Date! Community Survey Coming February 2026

Verona is excited to launch a new Age-Friendly Initiative aimed at supporting the well-being, independence, and quality of life of older adults in our community. Over the next several months, the Township will work in partnership with New Jersey Future and a community Leadership Team to assess local resources, services, and the built environment to better understand how Verona can help residents age in place.

This initiative will lead to a long-term Age-Friendly Action Plan and an application to join the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, opening the door to expanded resources and grant opportunities. This initiative is funded by the Department of Human Services, Division of Aging Services.

As a first step, the Township will conduct a community-wide survey of residents ages 55 and older beginning in February 2025. We want to hear from you! 

What the Survey Will Do

• The survey will gather feedback on how well the Township meets eight domains of livability:
• Housing options
• Transportation and walkability
• Social engagement
• Outdoor spaces and buildings
• Health and community services
• Civic participation
• Communication and information
• Respect and inclusion

Your feedback will help identify strengths, gaps, and priorities, and will directly shape Verona’s age-friendly strategy for years to come.

How to Participate

• Beginning in February, residents will be able to complete the survey:
• Online through a link posted here and shared widely throughout the community
• On paper, with copies available at municipal buildings, the Community Center, the Library, and other convenient locations
• With assistance, for residents who prefer help completing the survey

The survey is voluntary, confidential, and open to all Verona residents age 55 and over. For anyone seeking to stay involved with ongoing Age-Friendly efforts, there will be an option to include contact information.

• Older adults are a vital part of Verona. By taking part in the survey, you will help:
• Highlight what is working well
• Identify where support or improvements are needed
• Guide local decisions on programs, services, and infrastructure
• Ensure all residents can remain active, engaged, and supported as they age
