Verona Inclusive Healthy Communities: Survey

Verona Township Launches New Inclusive Healthy Communities Initiative

The Township of Verona is excited to launch a new Inclusive Healthy Communities (IHC) Initiative aimed at improving accessibility, inclusion, independence, and quality of life for people with disabilities in our community. Over the next several months, the Township will work in partnership with New Jersey Future and a community Leadership Team to assess local resources, services, and the built environment to better understand how Verona can become a more accessible, inclusive, and supportive community for residents of all abilities.

This initiative will lead to a long-term Inclusive Healthy Communities Action Plan, helping guide local improvements that remove barriers and expand opportunities for participation, health, and well-being for people with disabilities. This initiative is funded by the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Disability Services.

As a first step, the Township will conduct a community-wide survey of residents with disabilities, caregivers, family members, and advocates beginning in May 2026. We want to hear from you!

Take The Survey

What the Survey Will Do

The survey will gather feedback on how well the Township supports accessibility, inclusion, and quality of life across key areas of community living, including:

  • Attitudinal
  • Communication
  • Physical
  • Policy
  • Programmatic
  • Social
  • Transportation

Your feedback will help identify strengths, gaps, and priorities and will directly shape Verona’s Inclusive Healthy Communities strategy for years to come.

How to Participate

Beginning in May, residents will be able to complete the survey:

Online, through the link posted above which will also be shared widely throughout the community

On paper, with copies available at municipal buildings, the Community Center, the Library, and other convenient locations

The survey is voluntary, confidential, and open to Verona residents with disabilities, caregivers, family members, and others who support or advocate for people with disabilities. For anyone seeking to stay involved with ongoing Inclusive Healthy Communities efforts, there will be an option to include contact information.

Why Your Voice Matters

People with disabilities are a vital part of Verona. By taking part in the survey, you will help:

  • Highlight what is working well
  • Identify where support, accessibility, or improvements are needed
  • Guide local decisions on programs, services, and infrastructure
  • Help ensure Verona is an inclusive, welcoming, and accessible community for all residents
