Bloomfield Ave Streetscape Improvements & Renovations

The Bloomfield Avenue streetscape improvement and renovation initiative aims to create an accessible, functional space for all residents and a design that reflects Verona Township’s unique character while embracing modern elements.

Improvement & Renovation Goals

Create a unified look and feel for Bloomfield Avenue. The street will have a consistent, attractive design.

Ensure ADA compliance throughout. All improvements will be accessible for people of all abilities.

Add traffic-calming features. The design will encourage safer driving and make crossing easier for pedestrians.

Make the street more pedestrian-friendly. Safer sidewalks, crosswalks, and spaces for walking.

Add more greenery. Trees and landscaping will make the area more inviting.

Improve stormwater management. New infrastructure will reduce flooding and handle rainwater better.

What parts of Bloomfield Ave are included?

The primary focus of Phase 1 is the section of Bloomfield Ave between Fairview Ave and Park Ave. Improvements will be made along both the north and south sides of Bloomfield Ave in this area.

The Process

  • Understanding the Current State: Analyze existing conditions and pinpoint any issues or deficiencies. Throughout this process, the Township prioritizes your needs at every step.
  • Stakeholder and Public Engagement: Engaging with the community is a vial aspect of this initiative to ensure safety works in harmony with the surrounding natural, social, economic and cultural environments.
  • Context-sensitive Design: An integration of infrastructure and pedestrian-friendly elements which will enhance the commercial and residential issues identified, thereby increasing quality of life.

Who does this benefit?

  • Residents: Safer sidewalks, crosswalks, and better accessibility will make it easier to walk, bike, and enjoy the neighborhood.
  • Business Owners: A more attractive and pedestrian-friendly street encourages foot traffic and supports local shops and restaurants.
  • Visitors: Improved design and added greenery will create a welcoming environment for people coming to Verona for shopping, dining, and events.
