Welcome to Verona's Business Community. If you are thinking about opening a new business, taking over an existing business, or relocating your business within Verona, the first step is to confirm that your proposed business use is permitted at your location. The Zoning Office can help you understand the requirements for your property and guide you through the zoning approval process.
Before signing a lease, purchasing a property, or beginning renovations, prospective business owners should contact the Zoning Office to determine:
- What zoning district the property is located in
- If your proposed business use is permitted in that zoning district
- Is a zoning permit is required?
- Are additional approvals necessary
Do I need a Zoning/Tenant Permit? YES.
A zoning/tenant permit (insert link) is required for all of the following:
- Prospective tenants of new businesses
- New owners of existing businesses, including continued uses
- Businesses proposed in single-occupation buildings
- Businesses proposed in multi-use or mixed-use buildings
- Home occupations
What information is needed for my Zoning Tenant Permit?
- Project/property location
- Applicant information
- Property owner information, if different from the applicant
- Existing and proposed business names and uses
- The proposed principal use
- A description of the specific nature of the business
- Information about applicable state or local licenses
- Parking requirements
- Proposed outdoor storage
- A project description
- Applicant/owner signature
Zoning Regulations
Zoning regulations are contained in § 150 of the Township of Verona Code. The Township’s zoning information and code resources can be used to review applicable regulations and permitted uses.
