PLUMBING INSPECTION HOURS:

TUESDAY & THURSDAY 7:45 – 11:30AM

TUESDAY & THURSDAY 7:00AM – 7:45AM Plumbing questions will be answered on these days/hours

ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR:

TUESDAY & THURSDAYS 7:45AM – 11:30AM 

BUILDING INSPECTOR:

FIRE INSPECTOR:

Required Inspections

The following are REQUIRED inspections pursuant to NJAC 5:23-2.18 for NEW BUILDINGS, ADDITIONS, RENOVATIONS & ALTERATIONS.   

1. Building:  Footing bottom of trench, and rebar if applicable PRIOR to the pouring of concrete. 

  • Wall forms & Steel PRIOR to the pouring of concrete. 
  • Foundation PRIOR to the placement of backfill. 
  • For New Homes; Foundation location survey required PRIOR to inspection.  Contact the Engineering Dept.  
  • Sheathing PRIOR to the installation of house wrap, siding & roofing.  Windows and doors must be installed. 
  • Slab PRIOR to the placement of concrete 
  • Electrical & Plumbing:  under-slab inspections required at this time. 
  • Framing: AFTER passing Electrical, Plumbing & Fire rough inspections 
  •  BEFORE insulation- Installation of windows and siding must be complete 
  • Insulation PRIOR to the installation of gypsum board and sheetrock 
  • Building Final CANNOT be scheduled until Electric, Plumbing and Fire pass final inspections

2. Electric: Rough wiring for all fixtures and trenches if applicable. Electric final 

3. Mechanical: All duct work, exhaust fans, motors, and dryer vents. Before sheet rock. Mechanical final

4. Plumbing: Rough installation; air test for gas piping, water test for water piping, waste and vent piping and trenches if applicable. Plumbing final

5. Fire: Rough location of all fire protection equipment, including smoke alarms Fire final *Please note all manufactured fireplaces are subject to rough inspection as per the UCC.  Kitchen hoods over 400 CFM require permit.

Note:  Zoning approval is not an approval to start building. All drawings must be approved by the required disciplines and a building permit must be issued.  Other inspections may be required depending on the scope of the project. Consult the Subcode Officials if you have questions.
