We know it's been a little while since our last update, so here's where things currently stand:
Planning continues for Verona's much-needed new Emergency Services Building—a project that addresses Verona's aging emergency services facilities. The average age of Verona's emergency facilities is over 90 years old. The Police Department building is over 100 years old, originally constructed in 1923. The goal remains the same: to provide updated, safe, and efficient spaces for our emergency services while continuing to refine the project based on community feedback and expert input.
Verona Township recently received proposals from architecture firms interested in serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to partner with Solutions Architecture, who will continue as the project's primary local architectural expert and Architect of Record. Verona's Township Council will hold a special meeting via Zoom on Tuesday July 28th at 7pm to hear presentations and conduct interviews with three qualified firms:
• BKV Group
• H2M Architects
• Tecton Architects
Each firm will present their experience, explain how they can strengthen the project, and answer questions from the Council. The Council aims to reach a consensus on the firm best suited to serve as the project's SME so they can begin collaborating with Solutions Architecture to further refine the new building plans.
Residents are encouraged to tune in and stay informed as this important project continues to move forward. For full project details visit https://www.veronanj.org/EmergencyServicesBuilding
