During last night's Township Council Meeting (6.22.26), Verona's Township Council appointed Corey Schor to fill the vacant Council seat following the resignation of former Councilwoman Cynthia Holland.
Schor will serve on Verona's Township Council through the certification of the November 2, 2026 General Election, when Verona voters will elect a successor to complete the balance of Holland's term, which expires in January 2030.
A Verona resident since 2018, Schor has been an active volunteer in the community and most recently served as Chair of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. During his tenure, he worked alongside committee members, Township administration, and elected officials on a variety of initiatives, including recreation programming, facility improvements, community outreach, and long-term planning efforts for the Verona Community Pool.
In his letter of interest to the Township Council, Schor cited his commitment to public service, extensive volunteer experience, and professional background in operations, budgeting, financial analysis, marketing, and business development as qualifications that will help him serve the community effectively.
The Township Council praised Schor's leadership and dedication to Verona, particularly his contributions to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and his efforts to strengthen recreational programs and community assets.
The Township also extends its sincere thanks to the other candidates who put themselves forward for consideration: Kate Hartwick, Dan McGinley, and Monica Vincent. Their willingness to serve and contribute to the community is greatly appreciated.
With Schor's appointment to the Township Council, a vacancy now exists on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Residents interested in serving their community are encouraged to apply. Applications for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee are available through the Township's volunteer boards and committees application process (linked below).
