During last night’s Township Council Meeting, Councilwoman Cynthia Holland announced her decision to resign from the Verona Township Council, effective June 9, 2026. Due to recent professional career changes that have brought new responsibilities and demands, along with unexpected personal matters, she has made the difficult decision to step down from her position.
For the past five years, Cynthia has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the residents of Verona, serving with integrity, dedication and a steadfast focus on advancing our community. Her leadership expertise and passion for public service have helped shape important initiatives including addressing our aging infrastructure, strengthening and improving water utilities and expanding programs and services that enhance the quality of life for Verona residents.Â
In recognition of her lasting impact the Township Council adopted a resolution, linked here, conferring upon Councilwoman Holland the honorary title of Councilwoman Emerita. This distinction serves as a lasting acknowledgement of her contributions to the Township of Verona.
"Serving on the Verona Township Council has been an honor and a pleasure. I ran for this office because I believed then, as I still believe now, that local government really matters deeply. It touches people's lives in ways that are immediate practical and very personal. It affects the water that comes from our taps our responses to storms, the roads that we drive on, the fields our children play on, and the culture of the community we choose to build together."
On behalf of the Township of Verona, we thank Councilwoman Holland for her years of dedicated service and wish her continued success in her professional and personal endeavors. Councilwoman Holland Emerita's full proclamation from Mayor Tamburro can be read here.
