The Township is conducting a crucial update to our Tree Inventory, an essential component of our Community Forestry Management Plan (CFMP), which was last updated in 2020. Having a current CFMP is essential for planning and also opens up additional grant opportunities. As we all know, trees are a vital asset to our community, providing both environmental benefits and overall quality of life.
This initiative began last summer with a Windshield Study that allowed us to swiftly identify and prioritize Township tress requiring immediate attention. Starting on or around September 15th we will be updating our current inventory of all street trees which expires December of 2025. This update is a mandated requirement from NJDEP and is pivotal for the effective planning and management of ensuring we are well-prepared to address any forestry challenges that may arise such as disease prevention, strategic planting and maintenance.
Weather depending, Foresters from Gracie & Harrigan will be walking and driving around Verona wearing orange vests for the next 2-4 weeks. Should you have any questions, please contact the Verona's Shade Tree Commission.
