New Jersey will be under a State of Emergency beginning at 2:00 PM today. A significant amount of rainfall is expected with heavy downpours.
The National Weather Service’s latest forecast confirms 1-3” of rain, with the possibility of up to 6-7” localized. The concern would be how quickly the rain falls which can lead to localized flooding.
During a State of Emergency, the Verona Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is the Official Point of Contact for the public. OEM’s goal is to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the effects of natural or man-made disasters and emergencies that may occur within the Township of Verona.
OEM coordinates the plans and operations of the various components of the Emergency Management System, consisting of police, fire, emergency medical services, public works, volunteers, and other groups contributing to the management of emergencies.
Be prepared for flooding, heavy rain, strong winds, downed trees/wires, and power outages.
