Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day, a day dedicated to honoring the victims and survivors of gun violence and to raise awareness about this issue that affects many communities. The statistics are a harsh reality, everyday more than 125 people in the US are killed by gun violence and 260 are shot and wounded. New Jersey alone has 437 gun related deaths every year.
Verona's Township Council passed a resolution in support of this day. Township employees were encouraged to wear orange in recognition of this day. This small yet significant gesture demonstrates the Township's commitment to this cause. Read the full resolution which includes the significance of Wear Orange.Â
Join Moms Demand Action along with Wear Orange Saturday, June 7th for a rally in Morristown (200 South St). Information is tied with orange ribbon along Bloomfield Ave.
