Verona is excited to welcome Michael Kraus as our new Deputy Township Manager

Michael brings a vibrant and inspired vision to our community, with a goal of enhancing the quality of life for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.

Michael's journey into municipal service began with a transformative internship under Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. This experience ignited his passion for government work, as he recognized the significant impact that effective administration can have on people's lives. Before joining us in Verona, Michael spent nearly ten years in Hoboken City. There, he developed his skills in Human Resources and Business Administration, making significant contributions to the city’s operational efficiency and employee satisfaction. In his position as Deputy Township Manager, Michael is dedicated to promoting inclusive growth and development. His vision for Verona is to foster an environment where every stakeholder can see tangible improvements in their daily lives.


Michael earned his Master's degree in Public Administration from New York University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona laying the groundwork for his public service career and providing him with the essential skills to address the challenges and opportunities that await in Verona. Beyond his professional obligations, Michael is an avid golfer, a sport he has cherished since his youth. Furthermore, he shows his dedication to community service by volunteering with the West Caldwell Fire Department.
