A lawyer specializing in Elder Law issues and an independent insurance agent and a geriatric care manager will all present valuable information and experts will help seniors fill out Advanced Directives (Living Wills). The program takes place in the VCC ballroom, free light refreshments will be served, and the program is open to all area senior citizens.

Verona UNICO will present it’s third annual Pasta Dinner on Wednesday, January 28 in the VCC. Verona Health Department
It seems fair to say we are just beginning to feel the negative effects of the current economy. As Americans tighten their belts to prepare for the economical storm in our midst the first to be hit are those organizations to which we reach out for help. Likewise the first people to feel the crunch the deepest are those who were already less fortunate.

The Verona Children’s Fund has been in existence and surviving on the donations of Verona residents since the early 1980’s. Its’ purpose is to keep children in the main stream while their parents are recovering from financial hardship brought about by illness, death, unemployment, divorce etc. It provides lunches, food gift certificates, recreational and school programs, and also covers some medication and medical needs. It is a resource not only for the material but for information and referral as well.

If you would like to donate to the Children’s Fund to assist families in your community, know that 100% of your donation goes directly back out to help Verona Children. If this is not your cause pick another and donate (no matter how small). If you don’t have money, but an extra can of food donate to your local food pantry which again goes directly back into the community to feed the hungry. If you don’t have money or extra food staples donate time. Once again this year the Salvation Army will allow us to use their kettle at Kings and all the proceeds acquired come back to Verona.
