Environmental Commission

Peckman River Clean-up in Verona

The Verona Environmental Commission (VEC) was established by Ordinance No. 9-92 in 1992 to protect the environment and conserve natural resources. The commission makes recommendations to the Township Planning Board, Mayor and Council; and provides information and programs for residents.

The first VEC Chairman was Marc Kaplan followed by Teena Schwartz, Chris Pierce, Lydia Bashwiner, David Freschi, Cinzia Cortese, Jerry Shimonaski and Gloria Machnowski. All VEC members are Verona residents, serve without compensation and are appointed by the Mayor. Volunteer help is always welcomed!

VEC Public Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month (except July and August) from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the Verona Community Center, 880 Bloomfield Ave., Verona. The public is encouraged to attend and participate.
